  • Never sign an agreement when you are preparing a rental property agreement or choose to pay a deposit if you think that you are not sure about some of the things that are mentioned in the agreement.

  • Never provide with any kind of personal or incriminating information that might lead you to give up on your privacy. This also includes bank details and other kinds of legal documents unless it is expressly stated that they are necessary for the process of setting up the rental agreement.
  • Do not sign the rental property agreement if you find out that the landlord is of ill repute and may cause problems for you and your family members once you sign on the rental lease agreement and start residing in the property on a regular basis.
  • Do not live in a property that is considered illegal, or have debts and liabilities associated with it. It is also better to avoid properties that are in poor condition.
  • Do not pay any kind of application fee to a potential landlord. A landlord cannot simply ask you to pay a fee simply because you have chosen to apply for the available place.
  • Never sign any kind of tenancy agreement which you do not fully understand or haven’t read in full. If necessary, ask as many questions as you need in order to completely understand the rental property agreement. The potential landlord looking to sign a tenancy deal with you is bound to explain things to you multiple times as long as everything is clear to you.
  • Do not rent a property and sign on the tenancy agreement without actually doing a complete survey of the property. While a landlord may ask you to settle down immediately as it secures his business interests, you must be totally sure of what you are getting into before you sign on the rental agreement.
  • Do not go ahead and sign a condition inspection report if you have not yet indicated your disagreements with the landlord and his statements relating to the condition of a place that you are looking to rent. Your landlord and you must be clear on the points that you do not agree and which may require further discussion.
