What ages can kids begin learning swimming?

It is recommended that kids learn swimming in Abu Dhabi or Dubai at the age of 3 years old. Although aquatic programs for infants and toddlers are popular and important to teach your kids how to float and enjoy the water, but the child's readiness for learning starts at the age of 2 + and then they learn how to swim well at the age of 5

Age is not the only predictor of when a child is ready to swim, as each child is ready on their own timeline. That is why all academies in Dubai are keen to first meet the kid and conduct and assessment before registering to know if they are truly ready or not.

How to Overcome My Fear of Water?

Also known as "Aquaphobia", being scared of water is a common thing among many around the world. Either because they get scared from drowning, or not knowing what might be beneath the deep water, or because one of your parents was scared or that once you had an unprofessional coach. All of which is can be easily overcome with a little bit of perspective and trust.

Before registering in any class, coaches tend to make it a necessary requirement for the trainee to meet with them a day ahead starting the training as an assessment to know which level to enroll them in and to allow the communication to be active from the beginning.

During the meeting, the coaches will communicate all the activities that will be done to help you in your beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. If you are a complete beginner and have fear of water, the trainer will help ease you in the pool by training you in shallow and clear waters. Along the days, and with the support of the captain, you will move from beginner to intermediate in no time

Are the classes conducted indoors or outdoors?

Both are available, each academy listed has both indoors and outdoors venues. Although the most common pools are outdoors, but they are covered with tents/shades. Also, academies tend to keep the pools heated at the appropriate temperatures at all times whether indoor or outdoor. You can always check each ad description to know if the classes offered are inside or outside the premise.

What Techniques Will I Learn?

depending on your level, each activity will walk you through the higher level

For Beginners: Basics of aquatic skills such as: breathing control, floating, gliding, sculling, kicking and basic stroke

For Intermediate: Building the beginners state level techniques such as butterfly and breaststrokes, increasing endurance, treading and diving

For Advanced: The advanced level is more extensive, at this stage you would be able to do all types of strokes like the front crawl, backstroke, butterfly stroke, breaststrokes and sidestroke

Is there Classes for Ladies Only?

Yes. Women classes are conducted with female coaches ONLY and during specific timings. Ladies swimming classes can be conducted in private or in group classes with professional and certified female trainers.
